Training Course for Deliverers of a new training course in practical measurement in manufacturing from
The National Physical Laboratory
Advances in precision measurement tools have distanced operators from the basic principles involved in their use. This knowledge gap can lead to poor decisions on product purchasing, the need for expensive technical support and simple operational mistakes with expensive consequences. All are avoidable.
Knowing how to use measurement tools is not the same as knowing how to use measurement as a tool.
This programme will provide a framework for improving the measurement skills of the manufacturing workforce. It will promote better understanding of the principles of measurement. This will minimise the need for rework and reduce scrap. It will also give staff the confidence to question whether they are using the right equipment in the right way to get the job done effectively and efficiently.
The programme will be:
-
Independent of all instrumentation suppliers, users and government bodies ensuring a consistent, credible approach to training
-
Supported by a technical committee of academics, trade associations, instrumentation companies, training providers and government regulators to ensure the scheme's relevance to industry's need
-
UKAS accredited, led by NPL - the UK's national institute of measurement
-
Delivered by experts in measurement tools and measurement science
The Precise Group is pleased to host a week of training for the individuals who will supply the new course for NPL described above.
